Where Workforce Development Meets Food System Transformation
Expanding Beyond Employment: Food Systems & Rural Opportunity
MDCFWOI’s role has evolved to meet broader regional needs. In addition to our longstanding work through the National Farmworker Jobs Program (NFJP) under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), we have also served as a key partner in USDA’s regional food system initiatives:
- Delta Farm Start (BFRDP): A hands-on training and microgrant program to launch new and limited-resource farmers in the Mississippi Delta.
- Regional Food System Partnership (RFSP): A cross-sector collaboration to build resilient food economies and stronger local supply chains.
Delta Regional Food Business Center (RFBC): A multi-state USDA initiative to strengthen market access and infrastructure in regional food systems.
Through these programs, we are helping to transform the food and agriculture landscape while maintaining our commitment to the people who power it—farm workers, first-time growers, and rural job seekers.
Whether it is a job interview, a new farm business, or a business within the food supply chain, MDCFWOI is there—supporting the journey from instability to opportunity.
